Application of edible ectomycorrhizal fungi in the world
The necessity of the application of mycorrhizal technology in raising seedlings has been recognized by most people. Many countries and regions have stipulated under what conditions afforestation must be carried out with mycorrhizal seedlings. For example, in the United States regulations, afforestation must be applied to seedlings in grasslands with mycorrhizal inoculation. The former Soviet Union and some other countries also have such regulations. The Department of Agriculture of United States also encourages the commercialization of chanterelles in pine forest, both for afforestation and high-value chanterelle production. Truffles are cultivated as a high-priced food in semi-artificial ways in Europe, the United States, and Australia.
In recent years, in the afforestation projects implemented in the South China region using World Bank loans, the World Bank experts attached great importance to the application of mycorrhizal technology and emphasized the application of mycorrhizal technology in seedling afforestation. In many parts of China, large areas have been inoculated with seedlings and some results have been achieved. Major innovations have been made in the cultivation of mycorrhizal fungi such as lactarius lactiflora, red milk mushroom, milk boletus, and black truffle fungus. The cultivation area of red mushroom, truffle, and dairy liver in Hunan, Chongqing, Jiangsu, and Jiangxi are More than 80 hectares.
